Michael Latifi
Michael Latifi is an angel investor and venture capitalist. Michael is a businessman and entrepreneur who founded Sofina Foods Inc., an Ontario-based manufacturer of processed protein products, in 2006, acting as Chairman and CEO. His company acquired Lilydale in a C$130 million deal in 2010 and Santa Maria Foods ULC, an importer and distributor of specialty Italian brands, in 2012. He also owns a British Virgin Islands company Nidala (BVI) Limited. Michael invested £200 million through Nidala in the McLaren Group.
He left Iran with his three siblings when he was 15. He went on to complete a degree in electrical engineering and an MBA at McGill University and built Sofina Foods into the third-largest food company in Canada. In 2008, Michael and Marilena launched the tournament in support of Sunnybrook’s Women & Babies Program. The Latifi family shares Sunnybrook’s vision on how to promote baby-parent bonding when babies require incubators.
